same old, different new
Some Wisdom for 2009:
-the past only affects you in ways that you allow it to-forget why you cant do something and just try-cherish your friends; they're there for a reason-you can cry over spilt milk but rmb to clean it up in the end and ensure it never spills again-and most importantly, TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED; and dont blame others when they treat you the same way you treat them!- =D good mantra for life: its mine, i get to live it the way i want to! haha.
Some Resolutions for 2009:
i shall rmb to take all my vitamins so that my mother will not have to scream at me.
i shall keep my room less messy so my mother will not have to scream at me.
i shall keep my grades up so my mum will not scream at me.
basically, i shall do stuffs that will keep my mum from screaming at me or anyone else. =D
i shall try to be a good classmate and make frens with new people.
i shall be a good person and try to curse less.
i shall listen in class and take legible notes. =)
AND most importantly, i shall try to achieve all my resolutions! =D yay! =D
countdown to OBS: 8 days.
Happy 2009!!! yay! haha, hope the past 3 days of the new year have been good for all you people out there! woo-hoo.
i'll tell you why i didnt have time to blog on new year's day: my family and i went out! hahha, my dad got a good bonus so he treated us to dinner at Carousel, the buffet at the Royal Plaza hotel.. the food there is really great.. that was my second time dinnering there and the food was delicious both times!!! they even had turkey! left over from christmas, no doubt... hahaha. anyway, after the great and reli filling dinner, we went to watch teh fireworks!!! we first thot of shopping at orchard and then going to the esplanade to watch the fireworks at marina but most of the shopping centres were closed early for new year so we just went to raffles city.... shopped there coz they closed late. =D then when we were going to esplanade, we decided it was just tooo much human traffic so we went out of there and went to raffles place... my mum works nearby and she knows we can get a good view of the fireworks from there coz her frens actually stayed beck at the office so that they'll get to see the action... haha. anyway, it was packed tooo! but not as packed as esplanade.... but we were like across the road from the good view so my dad said we shld stand in the middle of the road.... (there was a fence seperating the two sides...) and we did!!! i officially spent the first few minutes of the new year against a fence in the middle of the road, under a tree, watching the most amazing display of fireworks.... hahahahahaha. but really, watching live fireworks is so much better than on the tv. i totally started the new year with a bang! haha.
then of course, after the new year, schoooool started. =( sad coz i'm not in the same class as my frens, happy coz i'm finally in upper sec... haha. but first day was cool lah. met sakeenah in the morning. she gave me a wake up call my banging me on the head... hahaah. went to school with her and idris... then when we reached, we met all our frens... (sans all the stupid talks we had...) i love my frens! they rawk my socks off! haha. found out my form teacher is mr de souza... huh. oookay lah. at least not some weird old man... hahhaha. then my clet is a ms wong... never seen before... seemed nice... =) cant wait to see the rest of my teachers... hope i get good ones.. =)
after school, i went to watch yesman with my sis... but we were sitting beside my frens!!! hahaaha. the show was nice, damn hilarious and sweet. and a bit stupid and silly. but huh, wat to expect? haha.
wells... i'm gonna write my wishes and resolutions for the new year soon. as soon as i think up some... haha. c ya.
starting count-down to OBS: 9 more days.
Nurul: thx ya... =D haha. i'm trying to ignore the incident.. dont want it to affect the happy new year and all that... hmm, anyway, dont stop going malaysia though! dont let one nasty person stop you! =D hahaha.

...and we sat at the bottom, fallen.
the rest of the holiday just went by in a blur. we spent the whole of the next day at the toyota repair shop. my uncle called some contacts he had and our car was placed under 24-hr cctv at the hotel. then, again he got some frens to help him contact toyota and get in an order of a new window and all. it was reli nice of him and all his frens. this is why its good to work overseas a lot. you get contacts all over the world.
anyway, a special shout out to these very special men... i know they'll probably never ever read it but it makes me feel better that others know of their good deeds.
Mr. Faizal, Mr. Zamri, Mr. Azmin of Impiana KLCC Hotel & Spa: for being the most helpful and kind hotel employees i have ever met. for offering your services, above and beyond what is expected of you. thank you.
Mr. Kevin of UMV Toyota Motors Sdn. Bhd. (not very sure of the company name): for being the most helpful and efficient man. for understanding and offering help when nobody else did. thank you.
these are the kind of people who we need to be working in the service industry. ever willing to help. thank you with all my heart.
our hearts all felt a bit lighter after the car got fixed so we decided to go have some fun.
after the car got fixed, we went to eat at KLCC. first time i ate at Chili's Grill & Bar. haha. dont worry, the food was halal. its quite cool. in malaysia, a restaurant could have the halal cert even though they sell beer and alcohol and non-halal drinks. =D i ate lamb shoulder. it was delicious. i loved the mashed potato. yummy.
well, we spent the rest of the days in KL shopping and eating in nothing but restaurants in shopping centres with secure carparks. it was nerve racking to leave the car alone but we managed. my dad decided to valet park the car at the hotel just in case. haha, i know, its a bit much huh. but we couldnt help it.
then something else happened that definitely made me list this holiday as the worst from hell. i got sick. the day after the incident, i got fever and a splitting headache. i dont know if it was from stress or shock or something else completely but yeah, i got sick. for 2 days. i tried to downplay it coz i wanted my family to have fun and all but it was hard. took panadol coz my mum forgot to bring my medicine. i got better after that. still didnt feel reli good but heck, maybe i was just tired. sighs. anyway, we got good shopping done. my mum and dad thot it was paramount that i replace the shoes that were stolen. so i think this is my second nike shoes? or maybe the first didnt count coz i didnt even get to wear both sides. hmm. also got nice clothes from mango and zara. hehe, first time i got stuff from zara. they were all having sales coz of the year-end. =D then we drove back home... nothing big happened. thank god.
when we reached home just now, i got tons of messages about CCAO.. oh my gosh. its time already?? oh dear, i didnt know that. seems like i got some duties... but i cant make it. =( i already missed initiative today.. then i think they had setting up of tents for guides. but i dont even know how to do that! ?!!? then i have duties for the real thing 2moro but i wont be able to make it coz i have to visit my grandma.. she's getting better everyday, i think, i hope. haiz, i'm so tired... i think i'm gonna go crash. more about the hols 2moro kay. and pics if i can manage(not that there are many.. its just some pics from before the incident.)
i wish i were a whiteboard. i could just clean off my past and start with a clean slate, not one scratch or mark from the past..

...then we came tumbling down....
second day.
nice weather outside. had fulfilling buffet breakfast at the hotel... (nothing can beat concorde but it was okay.) then we palnned to go sunway lagoon... =D
we got there and ka-boom. it. was. FULL. packed-full. extremely-crowded-packed-full. omg. haha. but seriously, we shld have expected it. it was christmas holiday and malaysians dont exactly celebrate it much except spend tons on shopping... haha. anyway, we took a long time queueing for ticks and even for entering the damn place. very disorganised system they have.... and you know wat?? they were super strict about the no outside food rule. they even bag-checked us! wat the hell. its not like we wont patronise the stalls inside. its just stupid. but anyhow, we had fun there. =D though my mum slipped on the wet stairs and fell.. but other than that it was good.
left in the late afternoon. since we had a heavy breakfast, we decided to skip lunch so after sunway, we decided to go for an early dinner. my uncle wanted to take us to this reli good nasi lemak place. its kinda a back alley place but he said it had the best nasi lemak in all of KL.
it was the worst decision ever made.
oh, dont get me wrong. the food was good. not the best i've tasted but still good. it was after that made us all regret the decision to go there.
our car window was smashed and our things stolen. and we only parked 3 cars down from the entrance of the stall. that is what bothers me even after all this time. we did not hear a thing. i know it was tempered glass and it didnt shatter into a gazillion pieces. but we shld have heard it. rite? oh, god i dont noe. it hurts thinking about it. so now its just an outline of what happen: i saw it first. my dad didnt notice it when he unlocked the car and got in. the window was the one after mine so i saw it first when getting in. it was smashed. i couldnt comprehend anything else. it was my sister, who saw it third after my cuz, who noticed that our things in the back seats were missing. we stood there for a while. me shocked. my sis pissed. my mum upset. my dad so calm. my dad and my uncle started taking pictures of the broken window and taking note of the street name and stall name. and talking to ppl who stopped by to see what happened. we finally got it together enough to get in the car and drive to the police station. we found out that that street is actually known for its crime rate. but its in front of a school for goodness' sakes! it was the longest night in my life. it took quite some time to make the police report and then the sergeant wanted to see the window for himself and they wanted to go back to the scene. so my uncle drove all the kids back to the hotel first. my sis and i went back to our room alone and waited for our parents to come back.
the image of that broken window will never be removed from my memory. really, now that i think about it, if it was just a dream, i would be laughing. coz the first thot i had when i saw that window was 'eh, did i get the wrong car?'. then, after ensuring i didnt, i thot 'eh, why did papa do that??'. hah, it didnt occur to me that a robber, an evil person would ever come that close to my life. i'm naive and slow. i pride myself on being street smart and realistic. but it never occured to me that robbers and criminals really existed out of the TV. how stupid.
the extent of our losses: $100 nike bag pack, new $100 nike shoes, new $200 nike shoes, my ring from my sis that i got for my 14th birthday, my seashell bracelet that i got from australia, my sis' shades, various clothing(wet from our day at sunway lagoon), various toiletries, new clothes that we got for our neighbour as gifts, my sis' $60 skirt...
life kicks you down at times.. and sometimes, its's hard to get back up. you have bruises and sores and its hard to ignore them. it hurts.
it started oh so fine. high hopes for a fun week away from the monotonous everyday. but it went so very wrong in so short a time...
went to KL for a week over the christmas holiday. left on the 24th in the early morning... we were supposed to go with my uncle and his family but they just realised that my aunt's passport was expired... haha. so they went to the ICA building the moment it opened to get an extension. they called when we just passed the tuas checkpoint to say that they got the extension and they were coming! haha. what my uncle wants, my uncle gets (he's very quirky that way..)... =P anyway, they told us that they had already passed the checkpoint at woodlands and heading towards johor... so we decided to wait for them at gelang patah rest stop. but they didnt show... called them again and ta-da. they just passed the johor checkpoint. (Quirk #1: when my uncle says 'on the way' or 'very near', he doesnt mean it.)
so we eventually met them at ayer keroh rest stop where they caught up to us.. (Quirk #2: my uncle drives like a maniac.) he even got stopped by a policeman -he was driving at 130km/hr- even though his son was supposed to keep an eye out for them... hahaha. so we bought some stuff at the rest stop... i got my first ever pair of nikes!!! haha. my dad got his third pair, i think... and we bought some really cute shirts for our neighbour's kids... then we had another hour or so of driving ahead of us until we reached KL! my cuz rode with us on the rest of the journey coz he wanted to watch the korean drama we were watching in the car... hahahaha. i seriously didnt know guys watched k drama. hahahahaha.
when we finally reached KL, we searched for the hotel... Impiana KLCC.. never stayed there before but apparently, its supposed to be good.. anyway, we all thot it was like beside KLCC like when we stayed at Mandrin Oriental but it wasnt! it was like a whole street away! wat the hell. if you're not beside the shopping centre, do not call yourself its name. sheesh, confuses people y'know.
anyway, the hotel was okay. pretty lobby. they had these revolving doors (is that what they're called??) reli cool. like the plaza hotel in new york.. haha. anyway, the bellboys were quite cute though! but i think their pants were a bit tight. but not in a baaaad way.. hhehe, you get my meaning??? (raises eyebrows..) okay, anyway, the rooms were okay. we had to give the rooms with the connecting door and the king bed to my uncle's family coz my mum's always nicer to ppl than her family... hahaha, kidding. i stayed in a twin room with my sis and my parents had a room to themselves. it was the first time my sis and i got a room with no connecting door to our parents'. it was cool. got to dress outside instead of in the wet (after we bathed) toilet...
we took a rest at the hotel for a while... then went out to dinner at 1-utama. it was in damansara, outside of KL. had a killer traffic jam on the way there. we reached quite late. but managed to have dinner in a nice restaurant serving local delights... took the chance to celebrate my dad's b'dae which was on the 23rd... then had no time to shop coz my sis got a bad tummy ache (which turned out to be cramps!) and we had to go back to the hotel.. had a reli good nite's sleep though my sis couldnt sleep coz she heard noises... woooo. hahahahaha. nothing disturbed me thruout the nite! =D
well, i'll post about the next day in the next post.. it seems to long to post here... anyway, dont want to confuse the good part and the bad, do we?

holidays!!!
hellos! in a very happy mood NOW. haha, yeah, i figured i change my moods a lot. ee, how do ppl cope with mood swings huh? its irritating. okay, digressing.
yay! i'm going on holiday!!! i know its only KL. its like a second home. but still! i cant wait for the trip there. we've been taking the plane so much that we havent driven up to malaysia for awhile. so we gonna go drive up during the christmas hols! very fun! actually, i think i prefer the trip there rather than the actual holiday. haha. anyways, we going with cik ka and his family. duper fun!!! =D
but a sad side. my grandmother might be going for her operation during that weekend. so i feel really bad for going on hols during that time. my mum feels that way too. =( my dad doesnt though. i feel twice as bad coz i figure he's just downplaying the actual importance of that operation since he feels bad for choosing those days as leave from work and how he's been using up the weekends(when we usaully go out as a family) to visit his mum in hospital. sighs. i hope it all works out. coz rite now the doctors arent very sure of the operation since my grandmother's quite weak and needs dialysis almost every day. so its a 'shall wait and see' kinda thing. sighs.
went to buy school books ytd. didnt get my science books coz they didnt have it at the popular we went to. hmmm. i've convinced myself that school wont be that bad. thx amanda and sakeenah for being so nice. haha. yeah, i'll make it thru with frens like you!!! =D hahahahhaha. have to clean my shelves to make space for new books. -cries- =D c ya. if i survive cleaning the damn shelves. =D
-But you see, just because we've been... dealt a certain hand... it doesn't mean that we can't choose to rise above - to conquer the boundaries of a destiny that none of us wanted.-
